Citizen Sanni Keffi has submitted a petition against the Joint
Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) for charging exorbitant fee from
applicants to sit for the examination
JAMB remitted N7.8 billion to Federal Government coffers from 2016 University and Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), the first time in the history of the board.
However, citizen Sanni keffi who claimed that the present Registrar, Professor Oloyede Is-haq is not being sincere in his claim of remittance, claimed that JAMB is adding additional burden on parents and candidates to meet this target.
He stated that “regularisation which for so many years was been charged between 3,000 to 4,600 naira is now 10,000 naira. No candidate that acquire NCE, ND, HND will register for DE application without going through the process of regularization. Same thing goes to potential NYSC Corp members whose admission have not been regularized. It should be noted that we are not against the charging of the fees or the regularization process, but the fees being charged is too much”.
He therefore suggested that instead of charging such fees and remitting billion at the detriment of the masses, he (Prof. Oloyede) can as well maintain the fees and ensure prudence.
